Sadly, the screening of SUMMER OF SOUL planned for tonight has had to be postponed for reasons beyond our or the organisers' control. We'll hopefully be announcing a new date date very soon!

Brought to you by JAZZIN’ THE PARK PRODUCTIONS

Created in the Summer of 1969, SUMMER OF SOUL was never able to find a distributor for over 50 years. Whilst Woodstock has been etched into people's imaginations for subsequent generations, this Black music extravaganza, filmed in Harlem, has been forgotten gem, gathering dust . Questlove, from the legendary Hip-Hop band "The Roots" has taken on his director debut and created a critically acclaimed masterpiece.

While the film will shortly be released on streaming, it is showing in cinemas but sadly not in Preston.

The historical and musical importance of this film cannot be understated. Filmed shortly after the civil rights movement, it is a towering glimpse into the struggle for Black equality and the role music played in that movement. Including live performances from Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, Nina Simone, B.B King and many, many more,; this film deserves to be watched on the big screen with a big sound.

Please join Jazzin' the Park DJ's, who'll be curating a specially selected soul vinyl set as an introduction to the film and as an outro to the film.

This midweek special is a one off, free event, with respectfully requested a voluntary donation to cover our costs of £3.00 each.
Don't sleep on this piece of Black music history, which has been dubbed as the best Music Documentary in history.

Look out for a new date!
