“I feel good every time I hear Zombie Zombie” – Iggy Pop on BBC6
“I know this French band that is pretty good. They’re called Zombie Zombie.” – John Carpenter
“Never anything other than engrossing” – The Guardian
“Superhuman powers at work” – Q
“Carefully controlled derangement” – Mojo
ZOMBIE ZOMBIE, the French trio, featuring Etienne Jaumet on analog synths, Cosmic Neman and Doc Schoenberg, both on drums and percussion, is back with an exciting new album, “VAE VOBIS” out March 2022 on Born Bad Records. THEY SING IN LATIN!!
The band goes back to 2007 and their first album “A Land for Renegades”. In 2010 their album “Zombie Zombie plays John Carpenter”, which saw them solely tackle the works of film score composer John Carpenter in new and different ways was a big success.
Since then they released the albums “Rituels d’un Nouveau Monde” and “Livity”, recorded a cover of Sun Ra’s ‘Rocket #9‘ (that was strangely sampled by Lady Gaga (!), wrote several film soundtracks, collaborated with a circus company (“Slow Futur“) and performed for a whole week at the Venise Biennale in Xavier Veilhan’s installation.
POLYPORES
POLYPORES (aka Stephen James Buckley) paints music with a modular synthesizer, drawing influence from ambient, new age, and experimental electronics.
It soars, bubbles, crackles, and soothes, in ever-shifting, immersive cosmic landscapes. Dream environments and sonic sculptures. He has had sold-out releases on labels such as Castles In Space, Polytechnic Youth, Behind The Sky, Front & Follow, Miracle Pond Records, Frequency Domain, Woodford Halse, Golden Ratio Frequencies, and Concréte Tapes.
Uncut magazine described his 2022 album Hyperincandescent as "intensely absorbing, ever shifting through static squiggles, warm blooms of texture, bioluminescent glimmers, and rattling chimes... like a dance of fireflies in the dark".
In a review of his 2019 album 'Flora', Electronic Sound magazine wrote "his music seems to seep up from the soil, from in amongst the nooks and crannies, before grasping towards wide and starry skies. From this claustrophobic murk, Buckley is always able to summon sections of soaring sonic flabbergast".
A captivating and engaging live performer, Polypores has played at Liverpool's Capstone Theatre (supporting Ian Boddy), and festivals such as Future Yard and Subliminal Impulse. He also performs regularly at local venues like The Ferret, The Continental, and Plau in Preston, as well as events further afield like the Delaware Road festival in Somerset, and once on the roof of the Stretford Mall car park.
Catch ZOMBIE ZOMBIE and POLYPORES here at The Continental on Sunday 20th November 2022. Tickets are £10 advance or £12 on the door
