Hellfire Preachers: Greenwich Village & the Folk Revival

The focus for this all new specially themed show by THE HELLFIRE PREACHERS is the folk revival of the early 1960’s.

The Greenwich Village coffee house scene in New York was the hotbed for the folk revival and the beatniks of the late 50’s and early 60’s.

Traditional Folk and Blues from the pre-war record boom was mixed with the poetry of the great Beat poets like Allan Ginsberg and the literary genius of Jack Kerouac and the burgeoning Civil Rights Movement formed the backdrop to this pivotal time in music. The Hellfire Preachers present this specially themed Greenwich Village & The Folk Revival Show totally ‘On-Mic’ to recreate the Coffee House scene of the early 60’s.

The program will feature traditional folk and Old Timey Country and Blues music that was popular at the time and contemporary songs by the musicians and songwriters that all got their start in Greenwich Village at that time including Bob Dylan, Dave Van Ronk, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul & Mary, Tim Hardin,Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon, Jackson C Frank amongst others. The influence of the British Folk Revival will be featured too.

Don’t miss this great show on Sunday 29th March. Doors at 7pm, fully seated show.
