The recent passing of Frederic 'Toots' Hibbert, founder and leader of legendary reggae act Toots and the Maytals has been a massive loss to the world. Toots is universally recognised as one of the greatest live performers ever and the Toots’ songbook will continue to bring joy, happiness and a good party for generations to come.
Among those bereaved are The Maytals band, five of Jamaica’s finest musicians who've been with him on every tour for the past 40 years! The Maytals Band developed a telepathic relationship between them that positions them amongst the greatest reggae bands of all time and as such, have decided to continue bringing the reggae party to town.. The Maytals Band identified a new singer in Jamaica, that they feel will be able to deliver the Toots and the Maytals songbook with power and respect .

In September 2021 the Maytals Band are set to headline at London’s Roundhouse to a sold-out audience for the first time without the great man. This is part of a historic UK tour celebrating Toots and the Maytals' historical relationship with the UK mod, punk, ska and reggae culture from their very beginnings.
LINE UP
Bass: Clifton “Jackie” Jackson. Both Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare cite him as a major influence, Clifton joined his first band, Ty & the Titans, at a very young age when their bassist quit. This stint was short-lived, but he soon joined The Cavaliers, for about two years before they disbanded. Soon after, he was approached to join a new band (after The Skatalites went their separate ways) called The Supersonics. After The Supersonics' “Girl I’ve Got a Date” went on to become a huge hit, the producer made Jackie the resident bass player for Treasure Isle Records. Here, Jackie played for artists such as Alton Ellis, The Paragons, The Melodians, The Sensations, Phyllis Dillon and Hopeton Lewis. Joining Toots and the Maytals in 1976, while working with an ensemble of veteran musicians called the Kingston All-Stars, Jackson remained in huge demand with many other top producers of the time (Tip Top, Prince Buster, Beverley’s, Lloyd the Matador, Joe Gibbs, and Lee Scratch Perry).
Drums: Earl ‘Paul’ Douglas. Grammy Award winning drummer and percussionist. Aside from being Toots and the Maytals' drummer, he's worked with Bob Marley and the Wailers, Bonnie Raitt and Eric Gale, as well as touring with The Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, The Who, The Eagles and Sheryl Crow. The past five decades made Paul Douglas one of reggae’s most recorded drummers. Paul joined the Maytals Band in 1976 with Jackie Jackson.
Guitarist/vocalist: Radcliffe “Dougie” Bryan. Bryan has been producing sweet sounds over the past five decades, beginning his career with The Sensations before expanding his musical talents to guitar. This led to Radcliffe recording for numerous artistes worldwide including such names as Herbie Mann, Serge Gainsbourg, Manu Di’ Bango, Jimmy Cliff, and many more. As well as being a founding member of the group The Revolutionaries he also joined The Maytals in 1975.
Guitarist: Carl Harvey: Two-time Grammy Award winner, three-time Canadian Grammy-equivalent Juno Award winner, Carl has shared the stage with such musical giants as The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews and Sheryl Crow. Carl picked up the guitar at the tender age of 13 and soon joined Crack of Dawn, Canada's seminal funk band, a group he still works with. The 70s saw him joining Bunny Lee's house band The Aggrovators and recording with Reggae greats such as Jackie Mittoo and Willi Williams before joining Toots and the Maytals in 1980 as the lead guitarist, where he has remained ever since.
Keys: Charles “Bulgie'’ Farquharson. Having spent almost 50 years on stages and in recording studios all over the world performing with some of Reggae’s biggest acts, Bulgie's feel for the fun parts of a good Reggae groove is both interesting and contagious. Farquharson has been lead keys player for Toots and the Maytals for over 28 years. From Reggae greats Dennis Brown and Beres Hammond, to bands such as Zappow, Inner Circle, and TATM, Charles has managed to maintain solid friendships and working relationships with many of the stalwarts of the genre. “Bulgie”, or “King Charles” as he was called by Toots, loves performing for the fans and music lovers.
