BODACH
“Ro)))therham’s finest seismic sludge merchants. The pace of punk, mixed with fuzz and the pallid face of doom circle a twopiece locked in Volume Worship at its most gristly. Formed in summer 2018, Bodach do not reinvent the wheel. They just set it on fire and watch it burn.”
Laurie Allport – Vocals, Sludge Tom Jones – Skins, Vocals
BODACH are a Sludge & Roll duo from the Sheffield/Rotherham area of South Yorkshire, formed in summer 2018. Playing their first show after only 6 hours of practise and writing a set (and about 8 hours of knowing each other at all), they hit Sheffield hard with a sucker punch of heavier-than-thou riffage and disregard for genre.
Word soon spread and they found themselves booked 7 times to play over the Tramlines Festival weekend – 5 of which were on the same day. They also issued their first self-release single ‘Red Eyed Mass’ that weekend, to local BBC Introducing repeat plays, and a quick reissue on the Velvet Moron label soon after.
Another single and DIY promo later, Bodach toured parts of Europe including Belgium, France, and Germany – before setting up material to record an album just before COVID hit the UK. The record that emerged after almost two years is a gear-up in regards to aggression, volume, and the overall consideration for sound. Recorded live to retain its raw elements and energies, Heretic Electric is a bag full of references, love letters to tones gone, and pure compulsion to make something that will hopefully last, make them excited as players, and prick up ears.
CALLUS
Down-tuned stoner metal fused with Thrash, Sludge and Doom elements. Forming a truly obnoxious, quite furious and outright terrifying sound!
VOIDLURKER
Formed in 2017, the sludge/doom three-piece is are everything you could want in the heavier end of stoner; low and slow, down-tuned and fuzzy and all topped off with complementary guttural gravel-gargling vocals, Voidlurker aren't out to reinvent the wheel so much as keep it relentlessly rolling down the road.
Catch BODACH, CALLUS and VOIDLURKER on Friday 8th April! Tickets are £8 advance or £10 on the door.
